Girls Player of the Week

Taylor Fountain, New Albany

Fountain continued her outstanding senior season on Saturday with an 18-point, eight-rebound performance in the Bulldogs’ 55-54 overtime win over Castle. Fountain, who is averaging nearly 18 points and seven assists this season, also hit two game-winning foul shots with 14 seconds remaining in overtime. “She gave us senior leadership, which is what she’s done for us all year,” New Albany coach Todd Satterly said about his senior. “That’s what we expect from her.”

Boys Player of the Week

Eric Powers, Eastern

Powers got the Musketeers off to a good start when he scored nine of his 17 points in the first quarter of Saturday’s 77-63 Washington County Tournament championship game upset win over Salem. Not only that, but Powers’ inside play helped get Lions’ star Colin Agan and foul trouble, forcing Salem’s center to sit out almost the entire second quarter, when Eastern took a demanding lead. Powers also finished with a game-high 15 rebounds in the victory.
