Poor third quarter costs East in 54-47 loss to Bloomington North

Columbus East was outscored 18-2 in the second quarter and its comeback bid fell short in a 54-47 Sectional 14 semifinal loss to Bloomington North.

 

East led 25-21 at halftime before managing just two points in the third period and trailed 39-27 at the end of the third quarter. East hit just one of nine shots from the field in the third quarter. Full Story

ADAMS LEADS BALANCED DEVILS

Jeff gets by Jennings County, 74-63

Four Red Devil underclassmen scored in double figures to help Jeff reach the sectional final.

 

Sophomore forward A.J. Adams posted a career-high 18 points along with snagging seven rebounds. Adams shot 7-of-11 from the floor while battling the Panthers’ frontline of 6-foot-10 Zach Fields and 6-6 Kellen Begeman the whole night. Full Story

Fresh off Tuesday’s unforgettable double-overtime victory over Salem, the Pirates avoided any hangover from the big win and dumped Crawford County 85-68 in the first semifinal of the Class 3A North Harrison Sectional on Friday night. Full Story

Silver Creek used a stingy defense and some clutch free throw shooting to knock off Corydon Central Friday night in the semifinals of the class 3A sectional at North Harrison, 54-43.

Eastern takes come-from-behind win over Braves

Eastern trailed nearly the entire game, but a Clayton Starrett 3-point play gave the Musketeers their first second-half lead with 2:39 left and the Musketeers went on to a 45-43 victory.

CLARKSVILLE TURNS OVER UPSET HOPES

Turnovers makes Generals' halftime lead disappear

The Clarksville boys’ basketball team had more than its fair share of opportunities to knock off heavily-favored Paoli in Friday night’s Class 2A sectional semifinal.

Rebels score game's final nine points for 45-39 win

The Rebels trailed throughout the first three quarters, but outscored the Lions 21-9 in the final period and scored a 45-39 victory.

 

South Central scored the final nine points in the game, tying the contest on a 3-point play from William Hockenberry with 1:30 to go. Full Story

Almost like the villain in a horror movie, the Eagles came back relentlessly every time it appeared Borden had the victory finished.

SECTIONAL 28 FINAL WILL FEATURE TWO DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Poor third quarter costs East in 54-47 loss to Bloomington North

Defending sectional champions Madison and Batesville will meet for the 2008 Sectional 28 title on Saturday.

 

Due to realignment, the Cubs and Bulldogs, who also won a regional title in 2007, will be forced to face each other for the crown.

 

After third-ranked Batesville knocked off South Dearborn, 41-30 in the first semifinal, Madison was a 52-45 winner of Franklin County in Game 2. Full Story
