BROWNSBURG STUNS NO. 1 DOGS

At Semistate, 51-41

By Kevin Harris of The Evening News & Tribune

All season long, the Brownsburg boys’ basketball team has enjoyed playing against ranked competition. The Central Indiana school has loved facing ranked teams so much that it has upset a few of them this year.

On Saturday at Southport Fieldhouse in front of 7,000-plus spectators, unranked Brownsburg lived up to its reputation as giant killers and pulled off of its biggest upsets of the year.

Brownsburg scored 27 points in the fourth quarter and ousted No. 1 New Albany from the unbeaten ranks to win the Class 4A semistate, 51-41. Brownsburg (21-5), which captured its first semistate crown, will play No. 8 Marion in the state championship next Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Full Story

THE WARPATH ENDS FOR BORDEN

Braves fall to Indianapolis Lutheran, 59-41

By Matthew Cress of The Evening News & Tribune

Through its unlikely run through the postseason, the Borden boys’ basketball team gave its school, its community and fans throughout Southern Indiana something they’ll always remember.

But, as the team emerged teary-eyed from its locker room on Saturday, what was likely running through their heads was a third quarter they’ll wish they could forget.

The Braves — in control for the duration of the first half — went ice cold after the intermission, going 5-of-24 from the floor over the final 16 minutes. Indianapolis Lutheran took advantage by outscoring Borden 41-18 over that span and coasted to a 59-41 win in the Class A Southport Semistate. Full Story
