Patriots Defense leads HH pull away from Charlestown, 32-6

For the second straight season, Charlestown's season has come to an end at the hands of Heritage Hills. On Friday, the Pirates were beaten 32-6 by the Patriots.

The Patriot defense was the story, holding Charlestown to five first downs and 112 total yards. Charlestown's only score came after a fumble that the Pirates recovered at the 1-yard-line. Cameron Metzger carried the ball in from the one, cutting Heritage Hills' lead to 15-6 late in the first half.

Metzger's brilliant career ended with a 16 carry, 35 yard performance. Quarterback Damon Vest, who completed just 2 of 13 passes, led the Pirates with 50 rushing yards.

The Patriots put the game away with 14 third-quarter point. Kraig Gogel scored his second TD in the quarter on a 2-yard run.

Cory Houser led the Charlestown defense with 13 tackles and an interception. Eric Kruse added 13 tackles and a forced fumble.

Heritage Hills will face 10-1 Edgewood in a rematch of last year's Sectional 23 title game. The Mustangs, who lost to the Patriots 51-15 last year, knocked off Brown County, 49-7 on Friday.

Charlestown's season ends with a 7-4 mark. Second-year coach Jason Hawkins is an impressive 17-5 as the Pirates' leader.
