WARRIORS' SEASON ENDS AT GREENSBURG Scottsburg falls in first round to South Dearborn, 61-53 By Greg Mengelt of Inside the Game
Scottsburg's first losing season since 2001 came to an end with a 61-53 loss to South Dearborn in the first round of Sectional 28 action at Greensburg.
Knight freshman Joel Scudder led all scorers with 20 points. Tyler Schulze led the Scottsburg with 14. Brandon Comer and Jordan Taylor had 12 points apiece.
The Warriors finish with an 8-12 record after what was topsy-turvy season that featured sickness, illness, defections and unexpected contributions from four freshmen.
"Obviously, we're disappointed wins- and losses-wises," Scottsburg coach Brady Wells said after the sectional loss. "The biggest thing was the amount of uncertainty this team had all year long. It was kind of a a 'yo-yo' year. We struggled to find consistency all year long."
South Dearborn (5-15) will face third-ranked Batesville, which beat the Knights twice this season, 61-35 on Feb. 1 and 63-42 on Feb. 19. |
