PANTHERS TOP COUGARS FOR THIRD TIME

This time, Corydon moves on to Sectional 30 quarterfinal, 52-42

In a rare occasion in boys high school basketball, rivals Corydon Central and North Harrison met three times in 2007-08.

 

Corydon Central took all three wins, beating the Cougars 52-42 in Wednesday's Sectional 30 quarterfinal. The Panthers outscored the the Cougars 36-26 in the second half after the score was tied at 16 at the half.

 

Corydon had beaten North Harrison 72-38 in an early Mid-Southern Conference matchup and 61-52 in the Perry-Spencer Holiday Tournament.

 

Freshman Brandon Dunaway led the Panthers with 15 points and senior Calvin Saulman added 14. In limited playing time, sophomore Garrett Ross had 10 points and six rebounds. Fellow-sophomore Dylan Harl contributed with eight points.
 

Corydon's season will continue on Friday in the sectional semifinal against Silver Creek. The 14-7 Dragons were 63-57 winners over Mitchell in Wednesday's first quarterfinal matchup.

 

North Harrison's season ends with a 5-17 mark. The Cougars went 5-9 in 2008 after starting 0-8 in the 2007 portion of the season.
